What is Utah College Application Week?
Throughout October, elementary, middle, junior, and high schools all across Utah partner with UtahFutures to organize Utah College Awareness & Application Week (UCAW). This program provides high school seniors the opportunity to complete at least one college application during the school day. It also helps other students across the state to prepare and learn about college. College is a possibility for all students! Ask your school counselor if your school participates in UCAW during October.
College graduates have the possibility of earning twice as much in their lifetimes as high school grads.
But applying for college can seem overwhelming, or you may not know where to start. That’s where we can help! Remember, “college” can be anything from a one-year certificate, to a two-year associate degree, to a four-year bachelor’s degree and beyond. At your school’s Utah College Application Week (UCAW) events, you’ll be able to:
Our college-readiness experts and resources will help you step-by-step through the application process and are here to answer all your questions.
UCAW events give high school seniors the opportunity to fill out college applications during the school day. Some Utah colleges and universities even waive their application fees for students from participating high schools.
As part of UCAW, schools also plan a FAFSA Completion Event to help students and their parents begin federal financial aid applications as part of the college admissions process.
Students must fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to qualify for college aid like grants, work-study, and student loans.
To prepare for filling out your FAFSA, create your FSA ID.
For more information about UCAW events at your high school, talk to your school counselor.
